CentOS 8 uses the Linux kernel 4.18 and will be supported until 31 May 2029. Most importantly, developers updated many packages to newer versions. Ubuntu 19.10 is based on the Linux kernel 5.3 release series and will be supported for 9 months until July 2020. Beside tool-chain upgrades, They improved the security.
